Chimney care for Trophy Club homes

Most homes in Trophy Club, Roanoke and Westlake were built from the 1980s on, many with a factory-built fireplace inside a framed chase. They don’t fail the way old brick chimneys do. The problems here come from hail, heat, clay soil and wildlife.

  • Flat metal chase covers hold water, rust through and leak into the framing.
  • Hail dents caps and chase covers and cracks masonry crowns.
  • Expansive clay soil moves with wet and dry seasons and can crack masonry chimneys and fireboxes.
  • Chimney swifts, squirrels and raccoons move into uncapped flues.
  • If your chimney only needs a cleaning, a cleaning is all you’ll pay for.

How it works

What happens on a chimney sweep visit

Look first

We check the firebox, damper and flue, and on a prefab chimney the chase cover and cap as well.

Protect your home

Drop cloths go down and a HEPA vacuum seals off the fireplace opening, so soot stays out of the room.

Clean the whole system

Brushes sized to your flue, whether it is a metal prefab pipe or a masonry flue with clay tiles.

Inspect and report

A Level 1 inspection and a plain-English summary of what’s sound and what needs attention, with photos.

Questions we hear in Trophy Club

Trophy Club chimney FAQs

Do you have a location in Trophy Club, TX?
Yes. Our Trophy Club location is at 905 Trophy Club Dr Ste 203, Trophy Club, TX 76262. Call (817) 623-9989 to book a sweep, inspection or repair in Trophy Club, Roanoke, Westlake, Southlake or Keller.
My fireplace is a metal box inside a framed chimney. Does it still need sweeping?
Yes. Most Trophy Club homes have a factory-built (prefab) fireplace: a metal firebox and metal flue inside a wood-framed chase. Wood fires still leave creosote in that flue, so it needs regular sweeping and a yearly inspection. Any repair has to use parts listed for that fireplace model.
We had hail. Should we get the chimney checked?
Yes. Hail dents and punctures the metal chase cover and cap on top of the chimney and can crack a masonry crown. Water then gets into the chase framing, and you may not see it until there is a stain or rot. We photograph any damage, which helps if you are filing a storm claim.
There are birds in our chimney. Can you remove them?
If they are chimney swifts, not while they are nesting. Chimney swifts are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act and nest in North Texas chimneys from spring to early fall. After they leave for the season we clean the flue and fit a cap so they cannot return. Squirrels, raccoons and other animals can be dealt with any time.
My fireplace only burns gas logs. Does it still need service?
Yes, about once a year. Gas flues get blocked by nests and debris, and the damper on a gas log fireplace has to be clamped open so exhaust cannot come back into the room. We check the venting, damper and log set.
Which towns do you serve from the Trophy Club location?
We serve Trophy Club, Roanoke, Westlake, Northlake, Southlake, Keller, Argyle, Bartonville, Flower Mound, Haslet, Justin and Grapevine, plus the rest of north Tarrant and south Denton County.
